Blog Post Title: “Control. Alt. Delete: Managing Life Through the Lens”
There’s something strangely powerful about a keyboard shortcut we all know too well: Control. Alt. Delete. It’s the reset button when your computer gets stuck. But what if we used that same concept for life? As a photographer, I’ve found that the lessons behind these three keys don’t just apply to tech — they speak to how we navigate chaos, creativity, and calling.
Let’s break it down, frame by frame.
⸻
Control: Take Hold of What You Can
In photography, control is everything — light, focus, composition. But in life? We often try to control everything and end up overwhelmed when things don’t go our way.
The truth is: you can’t control everything — but you can control your response.
Control means being intentional:
• Choosing how you show up each day.
• Saying yes to what fuels your purpose.
• Saying no to distractions that blur your vision.
As a portrait photographer, I control my camera settings to capture clarity. In life, I choose to control my mindset so I can stay focused on what really matters: my family, my faith, and the moments that shape us.

Alt: Find Another Way
The “Alt” key reminds us there’s always an alternative.
Missed a shot? Take another. Bad lighting? Move your subject. Life plans not panning out? Reroute.
We often get stuck because we think we have to follow one path. But sometimes, the most beautiful breakthroughs come from shifting your perspective. That’s true behind the lens and in life.
When I get overwhelmed as a dad, a husband, or a business owner, I remember: there’s always an alt.
• Pause.
• Pray.
• Pivot.
It doesn’t mean giving up — it means giving yourself permission to try a different approach.
⸻
Delete: Let Go of What’s Not Serving You
Some shots just don’t make the final cut. And that’s okay.
The “Delete” key reminds us to release the clutter. Old habits. Toxic thoughts. Unrealistic expectations.
You don’t need to carry everything.
As photographers, we curate galleries with intention — keeping the photos that tell the story, deleting the ones that don’t. Shouldn’t we do the same with our lives?
Delete what distracts.
Delete what drains.
Delete what doesn’t reflect your purpose.
⸻
The Reset We All Need
“Control. Alt. Delete.” isn’t just a way to reboot a frozen screen — it’s a way to recalibrate your life.
Sometimes, you have to:
• Take Control of your perspective,
• Press Alt and find a new way,
• And Delete what’s holding you back.
Whether you’re behind the camera or in the thick of everyday life, remember:
You can always start fresh.
You can always choose clarity.
You can always capture something beautiful — even from the mess.
⸻
So today, hit your own version of Control + Alt + Delete.
Refocus. Reframe. Reset.
And go capture life — from this moment on.
